The basics

What counts as excess stock?

Excess stock is good, saleable product you simply have too much of. Nothing's wrong with it. The problem is the quantity, not the goods. It usually looks like one of these:

  • Lines you ordered more of than the market wanted
  • Leftovers from a supplier's minimum order quantity
  • Slow-moving stock that's been on the shelf for months
  • Stock bought for a customer or contract that fell through
  • Duplicate orders caused by a system or ordering error

Why it happens

How excess inventory builds up

Forecasts miss

You bought for the demand you expected. Demand came in lower. Even good forecasting gets it wrong a few times a year.

Minimum order quantities

Your supplier wouldn't sell you 500, so you bought 2,000. The first 500 sold. The other 1,500 are still here.

Volume deals

The unit price was too good to turn down at a bigger quantity. It looked right on paper, less so on the racking.

Demand moves on

A trend cools, a competitor undercuts you or a customer changes their range. The stock doesn't move with it.

What we buy

Excess inventory we'll make an offer on

We buy new, saleable excess stock across most consumer product categories. Boxed and palletised is ideal, but not essential.

Homeware and kitchen

Cookware, storage, textiles, small furniture and home accessories.

Toys and gifts

Toys, games, gift sets and novelty lines from any time of year.

Clothing and footwear

Fashion, workwear, accessories and shoes in mixed or full size runs.

Electricals

Small appliances, accessories, audio and consumer tech.

DIY and garden

Tools, hardware, outdoor living and garden products.

General merchandise

Stationery, pet, sports, leisure and mixed lots. If it's saleable, ask us.

Why act now

What excess stock is really costing you

Stock that isn't selling doesn't just sit there for free. Every month it stays, it costs you in ways that don't show up on one line of the accounts.

  • Warehouse space you could be using for lines that actually sell
  • Cash tied up in product instead of in the business
  • Falling value as packaging dates and newer versions arrive
  • Handling, insurance and stock counts on goods going nowhere

The best price you'll get for excess stock is usually the earliest one. Holding on for a better month rarely pays.

FAQ

Selling excess stock: your questions

Will you buy just one or two excess lines?

Yes. You don't need a warehouse full. If you've got a few lines that won't shift, send them over and we'll price them.

Does the stock need to be in its original packaging?

It helps, and boxed stock usually gets a better price. But we also buy loose or repacked stock as long as it's new and saleable.

How do you work out what my excess stock is worth?

We look at the product, the brand, the quantity, the condition and how quickly we can move it on. Then we give you one clear cash price for the lot.

Can I keep selling some of the stock while you value it?

Yes. Just tell us if the quantities change before we agree the deal and we'll adjust the offer.

Will my excess stock be sold under my brand?

If you have concerns about where your stock ends up, tell us upfront. We deal discreetly and can talk through any restrictions you need.

Ready to clear your excess stock?

Send us a stock list and we'll come back with a free, no-obligation cash offer.
